Vol. 1 Issue 14
We call it “The Pitch Effect” - the glorious aftermath of a company’s appearance on the podcast.
There’s typically an initial surge of users, sales, etc. followed by months of continued discovery. Not everyone listens to an episode when it’s published. They trickle in over time. And as more listeners find The Pitch, more customers discover the startups on our show.
Here are a few highlights from the startups we heard earlier this season.
⚡️ Tether (Episode 102) completed incorporation as a U.S. company and Elizabeth’s investment has gone through - along with The Pitch Fund’s!
Last month Luis sent a text to me and Josh. “Hey guys, can we take a call tomorrow?”
To which I replied, “What is going on?”
I knew, with Luis, it had to be dramatic. (His track record includes nearly fainting during his pitch and waffling in his decision to convert to a Delaware C-corp.) In all fairness, this newest twist was not his fault.
On the call Luis told us Techstars Stockholm had shut down. Two weeks into the program. So…
Tether is now in Techstars Berlin with Audi!
However, Techstars Stockholm was reinstated in the following weeks so Tether gets to participate in both accelerators. That means:
Access to double the Techstars mentors
A Demo Day in each country
A partnership with Audi
Tether gets to have their cake and eat it too. 🍰
💃 Dressd (Episode 104) has onboarded over 20 sororities across the country to their Philanthropy Program where they are giving back to sororities' philanthropic causes when a member rents a dress. They have over 4,600 users and 330 dresses listed. Next steps are launching into festival wear and costumes through key partnerships.
🗓 Dotcal (Episode 106) gained over 1,000 new users in the first week of the episode and dozens per day in the following weeks. They’ve raised over $300k as a result of being on The Pitch.
👜 Modern Picnic (Episode 108) will launch their full collection + containers with The Container Store online & in store Q2-2023. Their syndicate is live on AngelList! And they are celebrating their 5th birthday. Join them this Saturday, April 29th in NYC 10AM-3PM at Marathon Coffee 769 6th Ave.
